what we believe

Here at Calvary, in the practice of the Presbyterian Church, we are all ministers, and we minister to one another. We take turns leading worship, creating hand-made worship experiences as the Holy Spirit leads us, and allowing the creativity and individual strengths of the members of our community to shine.

We are an open and affirming community, meaning we welcome all persons as participants in our congregation, regardless of age, race, gender, marital status, physical condition, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic background, economic status or any other human condition.

We believe that there is nothing we have done in the past that can separate us from God’s love because we worship a God of new beginnings and second chances.

We believe that God’s love – reflected in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus – is the most powerful force in the world. Just as Jesus sent his Apostles into the world to do his work, we believe that God has placed us exactly where we are, and that the love of God which dwells within us can reach out and touch the world through us.

there is no fear in love.

john 4:18

What does “Open and Affirming” mean?
It means that this is a community that embraces everyone, specifically members of the LGBTQ+ community. We have LGBTQ+ leaders, members, and visitors. We embrace people as they are. We are all being created in God’s image, every moment of every day. You are enough, just as you are.
